CLIENT OVERVIEW

A new Australian mining venture focused on delivering high-value battery materials was progressing towards operational readiness for a globally significant asset. With a blank slate across systems, processes, and organisational structures, the business recognised the need to lay disciplined foundations to support a lean, digital-first operation.

THE CHALLENGE

As the business transitioned from project development into operations, it required a structured approach to define how work would be done across the enterprise. There was a unique opportunity to build all processes, systems, and information flows from first principles. To succeed, the client needed a business process framework that was tightly aligned to operational goals, vendor integration plans, and future system implementation activities.

APPROACH

Working as part of the operational readiness effort, Cravern led the development of a comprehensive Business Process Management (BPM) blueprint. This included defining the enterprise capability model, consolidating core processes into ten key groups, and designing a full process framework aligned to the emerging business model. A governance model was established to ensure the involvement and accountability of process owners and champions. Targeted workshops were held with key stakeholders to refine each process and its dependencies.

SOLUTION 

The outcome was a detailed BPM blueprint that aligned processes, system requirements, information models, and organisational design. Clear workpacks were developed to support future system integrator partners, ensuring readiness for implementation without ambiguity or rework. The solution also embedded change management principles, preparing the organisation for a sustained program of continuous improvement supported by dedicated capability roles and ongoing stewardship.

IMPACT

The initiative delivered a clear, executable foundation for operational readiness. It positioned the business to embed rigorous, repeatable processes and created the conditions for technology to drive sustained productivity. Critically, it laid the groundwork for an improvement culture from day one.
