CLIENT OVERVIEW

Our client is an Australian based gold miner with its head office in Brisbane and a site office in Papua New Guinea. The junior miner is currently developing the Woodlark Island Gold Mine and is actively progressing a capital project to support mine growth. While continuing exploration and drilling activities, the business is preparing for its next injection of capital. With over 300 users across key business functions including payroll, HR, finance, maintenance, supply  and inventory client is required a fit-for-purpose ERP system to support both current operations and future expansion.

THE CHALLENGE

The client needed to identify and select the most appropriate ERP solution from a crowded vendor landscape. They required a structured process to develop comprehensive requirements, evaluate potential systems, and make an informed, cost effective selection aligned with the organisation’s long-term goals.

APPROACH

Cravern partnered with our client to lead the ERP selection process, starting with the development of detailed functional requirements across all business areas. A desktop assessment of the market was conducted to shortlist suitable vendors, followed by a formal RFP process. We managed the vendor responses, enabling clear comparisons across solutions, and developed a comprehensive implementation budget across all functions.

SOLUTION

The project concluded with a clear recommendation for award, presented and accepted by the project steering committee. Cravern’s structured approach ensured objective decision making, comprehensive cost analysis, and alignment with the client’s strategic and operational needs.

IMPACT

The client gained clarity and confidence in selecting the right ERP platform, supported by a robust business case and budget. The groundwork laid during this project ensures a smoother implementation phase and positions the business for efficient scale up and system integration in the future.
