Case Study - Integrated Control Platform – Pilot Deployment
Crystal GanzorigCLIENT OVERVIEW
Our client, operating in an underground mining environment, aimed to harness their LTE network to improve automation, safety, and operational efficiency. They required a flexible and intelligent control platform to manage multiple use cases such as environmental monitoring, lighting automation, and geofencing.
THE CHALLENGE
The deployment of smart devices and automation in underground environments is typically constrained by the lack of flexible integration options between sensors, systems, and control platforms. The client needed a solution that could bridge these gaps and enable seamless automation without relying entirely on traditional control systems or rigid APIs.
APPROACH
The solution involved developing an Integrated Control Platform capable of managing data flows and triggering automated actions, alerts, and alarms based on business defined rules.
To support automation, a range of hardware devices were deployed throughout the mine including intelligent lighting, geo-fencing modules, and remote gas monitoring sensors.
The platform was designed with a decoupled architecture, enabling integration with diverse devices and software systems while maintaining strong data security and format conformity.
The pilot project focused on automating use cases across this ecosystem, validating the platform’s ability to integrate, respond, and scale in real world operations.
SOLUTION
A flexible and intelligent control platform was successfully deployed, bridging systems and devices across the underground LTE network. This platform automated key operational workflows including remote gas monitoring, geofenced lighting controls, and post blast messaging demonstrating the value of data-driven automation in complex environments.
IMPACT
The client now benefits from automated integration of remote gas monitors with intelligent lighting and messaging systems, providing real-time safety insights and improving blast readiness.
Additionally, geofenced zones are automatically mapped in 3D and integrated with intelligent lighting, denoting exclusion areas based on vehicle activity enhancing safety, visibility, and control in critical underground operations.
